ABOUT PONTA DE OURO

At  1h30  by car from Maputo, Ponta do Ouro is a small villa in the extreme south of Mozambique, a mere 15km from the South African border, lying on the Mozambique Channel south of Maputo. It is truly a unique and wonderful destination to explore and a holiday destination that will render many happy memories. It is known for its beach, dolphins and for offshore diving and deep-sea fishing.

WHAT TO DO ?

At  Ponta do Ouro you can do scuba diving, kite-surfing, deep-sea fishing, shore fishing, dolphin swims, turtle walks, snorkeling, surfing, kayaking, quad-biking tours, wind-surfing, para-gliding and walks around the beautiful nature in which you find yourself.

Getting there

The best way to arrive at Ponta de Ouro is by car, taking the road of Maputo Catembe bridge. To arrive at Ponta or to Love café in Ponta you don’t need a 4×4 vehicle as it is tar road. Although if you would like to explore and go until Malongane a 4×4 is recomendable.

Malaria

Ponta do Ouro is classified as a low-risk malaria area – please consult your doctor for precautionary medication. We recommend packing mosquito repellents such as Tabard, Peaceful Sleep, etc.

Local supplies/amenities

Ponta de Ouro has all basic provisions available, with a few small shops/markets.

Restaurants

You can find many reliable options, where you can enjoy freshly prepared seafood. We do recommend the Love Café for its Pizzas or Mango Café for its tacos, both with a vibrant atmosphere.

Medical Emergencies

There is an Ambulance and Medical Facility in the old Post Office Building next to Ponta’s Restaurant.
